Abstract
This doctoral thesis, Carlos Casares na prensa diaria (1968-1992), starts from theoretical substantiation about the link between Literature and Journalism. A description of Carlos Casares’ collaborations in the press published between March 8th, 1968 and June 4th, 1992 is made. Casares wrote these articles simultaneously with his literary production, and the other facets he developed in the field of Galician culture. These facets of the author allow us to deepen the relationship between journalism and literature in his work. Firstly, a biography of the newspaper La Región is presented, the description of Casares’ collaborations published sporadically between 1968 and 1973 without an assigned section and those published between 1968 and 1974 in the section “Con esta lupa” illustrated with Siro López’s cartoons, and the characteristic features of the collaborations in La Región. Secondly, a biography of La Voz de Galicia is presented, followed by the description of Casares’ collaborations published between 1975 and 1992. On the one hand, those published in the sections “A ledicia de ler” (5th January 1975-28th May 1987, and 17th June 1990-4th June 1992) and their variants “Día a día” (4th June-29th September 1987), “A tertulia” (22nd October 1987-26th May 1988) and “A biblioteca” (17th September 1987) are described. On the other hand, other sporadic collaborations without section are examined too (1986-1988). Furthermore, the first steps of the column “Á marxe” (30th April 1982-4th June 1992) are reviewed, before it had become a fixed daily section between 9th June 1992 and 9th March 2002 due to the death of Casares. The articles published in the “Ao marxe” section (30th April-4th October 1982) and in the sporadic “Á marxe” section (30th April 1982-4th June 1992) are described. The characteristic lines of the collaborations in La Voz de Galicia are also indicated. Thirdly, the collaborations published by Casares in non-Galician newspapers, El País (31st December 1985-21st January 2002) and in the supplement “El Cultural” of El Mundo (17th January 2002) are described. It is then proposed a thematic classification of the collaborations, followed by the Conclusions and the Bibliographical references. This PhD Thesis is complemented in Annexes with a hemerographic work which illustrates places, dates and titles of the collaborations made by the author in different Galician and foreign newspapers.
