Abstract

This History of Galician Children’s and Young People’s Literature is the result of a joint effort involving a group of professionals who have been involved in research in this field for years, under Blanca-Ana Roig Rechou’s coordination. Its main aim is to fill the existing gap in the systematic knowledge of the production aimed at the reading public for children and young people, which is nowadays happily canonised, and which already has true classics that coexist with voices that have been incorporated over the years, as this work reflects. Based on the sequential organisation in centuries, and following the methodology established by systemic theories and the contributions of other theoretical paradigms, the six chapters in which this volume is structured form a historiographical journey in which the different stages in the constitution of the literary system for children and young people are described, paying attention to the factors and agents that led to its conformation and establishment, and to the analysis of the works of the canonical literary genres. The researchers who carried out this work (Blanca-Ana Roig Rechou, Eulalaia Agrelo Costas, Pilar Bendoiro Mariño, Mar Fernández Vázquez, Carmen Ferreira Boo, Isabel Mociño González, Marta Neira Rodríguez and Isabel Soto) are linked to the following initiatives and institutions that deal with children’s and young people’s literature: the LITER21 Research Group “Literatura galega. Literatura Infantil e Xuvenil.
