Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyse the development of Music Education as a scientific field in Brazil, through the productions derived from doctoral research projects. A search is carried out on research in Music Education from the middle of the 20th century on sources of scientific documentation. An analysis is made of pedagogical conceptions, musicological trends, research problems and the results of research on Music Education in the country. Finally, the current framework of the topics and problems of interest of research in Music Education is established, which can be constituted in lines of research in the area. As a result of this State of Documentary Art, conceptual maps have been constructed that aim to describe the field of research in Music Education in Brazil, revealing original aspects of research, such as: Themes, Conceptions, Theoretical and Methodological Contributions. This qualitative approach study was developed because of content analysis.
