Abstract
This work analyses the educational potential of music as a didactic resource to promote environmental awareness values in the classroom. The integration between cultural and environmental resources is analysed in this research from an evolutionary, biological, zoological, ecological and interdisciplinary perspective that underpins an approach to environmental education from the subject of music. Considering the close connection between environment and culture in the Autonomous Community of Galicia, this work investigates the practices of music teachers in compulsory education with respect to the transmission of environmental awareness values. To this end, a mixed methodology is planned that integrates quantitative research techniques (questionnaires) and qualitative research (interviews) to obtain an empirical approach to the researched topic. Specifically, the knowledge, presence, uses and perception of teachers about the use of music as a resource of environmental awareness are analysed.
