Abstract
After commenting on the influences of Eastern tales in Europe, this paper focuses on their influences on the European cinema. It pays careful attention on the work by Charlotte Reiniger, a filmmaker that played a key role in the history of German avant-garde cinema and captivated the relation between cinema and literature with her capacity to thrill through shaped poetry and, especially, in the animation movie Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed [As aventuras do príncipe Achmed].
