This article analyses the implementation of a formative programme for university students whose education is based upon Arts projects. This programme is addressed to 4th Year students of the Teacher Training in Early Childhood degree and introduces the novelty that the subject is designed as a project in itself. From an integral Arts education that stimulates sensorial exploration and experiential learning, an educational path that combines performative sessions, exploration workshops, discussins and the design and implementation of actions in a real context thanks to inter-institutional collaboration, is offered to students. Through a case study during four academic years, different evidences that have allowed the analysis of the degree of acceptance and interest the programme have been analysed. This study suggests that in initial teacher training programmes that promote the comprehension of interrelated contents, the use of attractive and rich materials that allow their manipulation and sensorial exploration, students’ autonomy and the implementation in real contexts of the experiences carried out in the university classrooms beyond placements, must be promoted.
