Old ghosts of the past are still present in today’s society and even seem to become clearer every day. These include sexism and discrimination against sexual orientations that differ from normalised heterosexuality. In this paper we will delve into the problematic of the concept of identity applied to gender and we will approach the role that literature can and should play in the task of educating children in values. A selection of picture books for pre-readers on the themes introduced will also be proposed.
