This experience describes a sound and music didactic project developed at the Zoology Museum of the Free University of Brussels. The experience took place at the end of the 2016-2017 academic year, with the aim of making the museum’s content accessible to children in a playful and creative way. The project took the form of two intensive summer workshops, open to pupils aged 6 to 10, aimed at discovering the sound and musical world of animals. To this end, a sound installation was created in the museum, based on photo-sensitive sound modules containing the songs of the most representative animals. Based on these sounds, listening and auditory recognition activities were designed, with the aim of learning about the animals through musical activities. In addition, the workshop combined activities inside the museum with outdoor activities, including sound walks to recognise the real sounds of the animals and to collect sound objects from nature. The preparation of the workshop took three months, during which time the creation, design and organisation of the activities was ensured, as well as their dissemination, communication and evaluation among the participants.
